Understanding physical changes in the environment is critical to making sound management decisions for natural resource agencies throughout the region.  For this reason, MERIP has had a partnership with the Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) since 2011 and also assists with the maintenance of a suite of water quality sensors throughout the U.S. Insular Pacific.  Through a program called the PacIOOS Water Quality Sensor Partnership Program (WQSPP) local resource agencies and NGO’s can use a water sensor to collect data on their own specific projects in order to better understand underlying environmental issues.
